Thanks to the generosity of Kristen Stein, a local artist and mother of AW artist Bella, the Fall Art Workshop students have the opportunity to create a larger than life project this semester.

When Ms. Stein contacted me about the 4′ x 6′ stretch canvases she was willing to give the program, ideas immediately were born. The theme for this semester’s program “Celebrating 150 years of Immaculate Conception” definitely lent itself to a big painting project, and here were the canvases.
The final project will be a three-canvas montage of images past and present from the church. Along with the Art Workshop students, my adult class “Young at Art” will be working on their design and also painting the panels. Each individual artist will add their touch to the work.
Check out the progress of this project, as the students begin the design process midway through the semester. We only have 8 weeks and so many ideas!
